One person is dead, and another injured after being rescued by a nearby Good Samaritan during a drowning incident on Sunday in California.
Fresno County Sherriff’s Office deputies and EMS personnel were dispatched to the Skaggs Bridge Park near Kerman, California around 4 p.m. on Sunday. There, they found one man who had been rescued from the San Joaquin River. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital and was listed in critical condition, authorities said in a news release Sunday night.
Deputies said in a statement early Monday morning that a fellow swimmer had noticed the injured man struggling in the water and had taken it upon himself to bring the man to shore.
First responders were also told that a second person was missing in the river. Sherriff’s Department dive team members recovered the body of the second man from the bottom of the river around 7 p.m. Sunday evening.
